AllDATADIY vs. STAR Tek
Currently about half way through a cylinder head removal on an OM 606.962. I have been using AllDATADIY up to this point but it starts to get a little vague on reinstallation. My question is will STAR Tek offer any more details? I.E. is it worth paying the 60 bucks for one day and printing as much as can? Thanks in advance!
(And yes I understand MB pubs are very limited on information as the MB mechanics are trained up) |

I can't vouch for the OM 606 but from what I've seen, most of the information AllData provides is just a generic reprint of some of the Startek manuals, especially the photos.
I've used both on my car and the Startek manuals are very thorough. The only catch with them is sometimes finding what section contains the information you need.

There's a free manual for the OM606 that's literally a carbon copy of what Mercedes offers on W124Zone.

No it isn't. Especially when you can find a CD copy of the FSM or a "bootleg" copy of the WIS/EPC on that popular auction site for about half that or less. If you plan to keep the car, it's money you should spend once so that you have a copy through your ownership of the car. Servicing the engine won't be the last time you need it.
