'Stormcloud' update - flex discs and glow plugs
 

03/11/2018 Replaced flex discs using two MB Flexible Joint Disc Kits (MB 126-410-02-15).
Discs are marked 116-411-02-05.
Flange positions front and rear were marked with white correction fluid prior to removing bolts to aid in maintaining original driveshaft balance on reassembly.
Rear centering sleeve (115-410-00-32) damaged when removing rear flex disc, but it is still usable.
Will replace rear centering sleeve when axles are rebooted at a later date.

03/18/2018 Removed old Bosch glow plugs (Bosch 0 250 201 039).
They were half-covered in soot, and appeared to be fairly recent replacements.
They glow brightly at the tips when connected to a jumper battery, so I will save them as good spares.
Reamed bores of all five glow plug holes with M******* Source glow plug reamer.
Cleaned bores with nylon bristled bottle brush.
Cranked engine without glow plugs to blow out loose carbon.
Installed new Bosch glow plugs (Bosch 0 250 201 039) (MB 000 159 81 01) with a dab of nickel anti-seize on the treads.


Replaced cracked terminal block on DS fender, treated connections with DeoxIT-D and DeoxIT-S.

Next up, will be tackling the neglected cooling system.
