Sometimes with my W211 I get the message "convenience features temporarily unavailable" (due to voltage being low). Any idea what's included in this category other than rear window defogger and heated seats?

I too have this warning in my '07 2005-2006 E320 CDI Buyers Guide, Common Problems, & Roll Call
and have no idea what is causing it. I know the '06 and older cars have an aux. battery, but I can't find one in my '07. I looked at the link from MB Medic. My car has the warning EVERY time the car is started, even with a new battery. The car starts flawlessly every time, and instantly without glowing. Mind you, it is the V6 Bluetec. I have just learned to deal with it, and have no idea how to fix it.....Rich

Yeah, I've read lots of stuff about the cause. I'm content just to have the message pop up. Mainly just curious as to what counts as a convenience feature.

The convenience list probably also includes the massive (1000 W on a 200 A

fuse) duct booster heater.

Does it only happen on/soon after startup on a cold morning?

Maybe your battery/alternator are getting weak and the massive draw from the booster heater is more than the system can stand.

It's always after I've let the car sit for a few days...but doesn't seem to be temperature dependent. I'm confident that my battery is in good shape. Never any problem starting the car.

I used to get that and I found out it was the main battery, issues went away after the replacement. By the way cruise control does not work when you have the warning is showing on the dash.

Another "convenience" disabled is the lighter plug. Annoying in today's world of dash cams and phone GPS.

Here's a list of the convenience features that are disabled in two stages (Link).

PM me your email (if you don't have access to the WIS), for a copy of the '03-'06 W211 dual battery system function/component location documents.

If your battery(s) and charging system are in good working order and you still have convenience features disabled or battery messages (dual or single
battery setup), you will need to have a STAR diagnostic check run on the car to figure out what's causing them, as there is no way of telling (besides guessing).

Why be content with error messages or warning lights when you can know for certain what's wrong and fix the problem!

Thanks, I figured that would be the case with my '07 (single battery). I need to find someone that will not charge me an arm or leg to scan it....Rich

I will check again next time I have STAR hooked up, but I don't believe any codes related to the electrical system are being thrown.

The next time you go to start the car (after it's been sitting a day or two), bring up the battery voltage display in the cluster. On my car (with an 18 month old battery),

I'm seeing 12.3v 24 hours after long trip. So I guess that's a bit on the low side?

Best way to prove a battery is good is with a load tester. Go by your friendly local parts store or WalMart and have them test the battery with their giant toaster device.

I've got a Solar BA9 battery tester...the rating on the battery is 760 EN....last I checked it came in at 720 or so. Test result was "Battery OK."
