2005 CDI faults when it rains hard
I took my 2005 CDI 184,000 miles, through a car wash for the first time and upon leaving my ABS, SRS fault messages appeared and the power steering seemed like it was lacking power assist. The car was drivable and common sense dictated that whatever had gotten wet would dry out and hopefully the system would normalize, and it did.
This week, we had pretty heavy rain storms and lots of water on the roads and the same thing occurred. My question is, has anyone else ever experienced this and what is it that is getting wet causing the faults? Thanks in advance

I'd suspect that since you're having problems with the power steering when this happens that the belt is slipping due to getting wet. If the alternator is also losing drive, the ABS/SRS faults could be from low voltage. Just thinking out loud...

Are you sure it was an SRS error?
If you got errors on the ABS and electronic stability control systems (ESC) and the power steering assist felt weird I've seen that combination of errors from a single faulty wheel speed sensor. Maybe water is getting into the sensor? Only way to know for sure is to read the codes.

Been there and done that!!
Been there and done that! In my case got all the same codes plus cruise inoperative, and the lightning bolt communications problem and car wouldn't shift out of first and speedometer read 0. Scared me almost as bad as Trump does every day.
Turned out that when I had the front coil springs replaced due to a broken front left spring the mechanic failed to attach the front driver's side ABS sensor wire to the back of the brake backing plate and the inside of the wheel well. There were signs of it sagging and rubbing against the torsion bar (I believe or something). When it got wet by just washing the inner wheel wells at home the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Turns out a bit of water was all that was required to degrade the signal to the point where it couldn't be read. Started with the front passenger's abs sensor. Removed it, cleaned a very little bit of garbage off of it and cleaned the wire. Next went to the driver's side where the wire routing was obviously wrong. Still removed the sensor, cleaned it and routed the wires correctly. I used a cheap generic code re-setter to reset the codes and all was well. It rained a couple of days later and all was well through the wet weather. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, I'll clean and inspect the wheel sensors as this makes sense to me. I will post the results when I'm done!!!... Thank you
