Rear Spring Booster? - w126

Hey all.

The back of my Benz (87 300SDL) sags a good bit. Quite a while ago I spent a bunch of money to replace the springs & & a bunch of other related parts (I don't remember what- this was >5 years ago), thinking I was finally going to get it back into good condition, but the back remained quite low.

Well, actually, the work made it worse. A shop I visited even longer ago (for other concerns) felt bad for me & offered to put in some plastic "spring boosters" for like $30, that had brought the back up to a little more than where she sits now. The

So... how do I go about finding some decent spring boosters? I don't know what's really going on, but being able to add an inch and a half of height to the back in a cheap, faster manner, as I did before, would be much appreciated. It seems like it's a surprisingly hard form of part to track down: there seem to be a lot of different variants- some go around the coil circularwise, there's wedges of plastic that sit between the springs. I really miss the ones I had- they were adjustable, basically plastic mini f-clamps. I'm not expecting to get so lucky again, but it would be great to get some suggestions known to help get that back up a bit!

Regards,
rektide

Hello - take a look at the link below. I believe this is the part that you're referencing. It appears to be available in various sizes depending on how much of an adjustment you'd like to make. Hope this helps!

When the springs were replaced, were the correct ones installed? There are different springs for different configurations of rear suspension on these cars.

There are also different thicknesses of spring pad used. Were they replaced with the springs? Correct thickness used?

I recently redid the rear springs on my SDL due to the "squatting dog syndrome" and used Lesjofors springs. They raised the rear end up roughly 1" and made a profound difference in how the rear end rides with passengers or junk in the trunk.

Other things that can affect ride height in the rear: subframe mounts and differential mount.
