OM616 / 240D Timing Chain Tensioner Spring

Does anyone have pictures or a schematic of the timing chain tensioner spring and parts on a 240D? I removed the spring from the tensioner, but to my surprise it sprung out fairly quickly, and had many more parts than I was expecting. I want to be sure I get them all back in the correct order. I assumed it was just the tensioner plunger and spring, but there were a few small parts.

I was able to find a schematic through the Russian EPC site. It looks like I may have lost #167 - part N005401305000

Does anyone know the spec on that ball bearing? I figure its easier to buy one then try to find it. Also - why is a ball in there??

The tensioner operates hydraulically. So probably it is part of an anti drain down check valve. No illustration of the passages inside the casting. So there is no way to be positive.

Although years ago it was recommended you prime the tensioner by manipulating it after installation. I had to assume this just got some engine oil into it. This tensioner was eventually replaced with the ratcheting type. Also adjusting the tension hydraulically.

If the ball hit the ground for example a strong magnet should find it with a little luck.

Any particular reason the tensioner was taken apart? If it was not working, you're probably better off replacing it. Not a part you want to gamble with, if it fails the chain can break and cause major damage to the engine.
