I plan on pulling the Fuel filter stand just to give myself as much room as possible. I'm sure with the 115+ degree weather we are expecting, I'll have a hell of a time (pun intended) putting it in. Thank goodness for readily available parts/tools for this car/motor!

Here's a link to a page for a tool made for earlier engines, maybe it will inspire you to bend a piece of soup can to fashion your own "basket". This tool just needs to be able to support the timer device in the window or hole that is revealed when you remove the vacuum pump.

I'll post this here as well in case anybody wants to see it. I got the Injection Pump out and I don't have a basket to hold the IP gear/Timing Device so I took the advice of Maxbumpo and tried a soup can. I cut a large soup can into a "C" shape to cradle the gear. Worked like a charm and didnt even move a bit. Pump slid out and back in effortlessly first try, and car satarted (after many cranks) right up with no leaks! Hopefully a side effect of getting the timing back on point will be lower engine temps. I suspect the retarded timing was causing me to run hot. Going through mountains I would hit 110° and it took a long time to come down. Thanks again all! BTW I used the Liqui Moly Hydraulic Lifter Addative and it did quiet down the valve train a little bit to my surprise.

The photos can be seen here....

Congrats!

You should start marketing your custom tool on eBay for $25 each....

Haha I don't think I could bring myself to sell a literal alumin can that I hacked with a dremel, so consider it payed forward! But it makes you wonder about how much of a killing you could make on custom tools!

My experience with 606 chain stretch is that it doesn't exist. I changed my chain at around 145k miles an had 1/16 of an inch stretch. Which is close to nothing. Like I've read before. As long as you change your oil regularly it shouldn't be an issue.
