vacuum hose

what are your options on places in system where there are form fitted hoses and you are not able to get them any longer?

I think it would help if you are more specific.

If you are speaking of the 2 way and 3 way rubber connectors they can be replaced with hard plastic ones and short sections of vacuum line. Meaning they have hard plastic elbows and so on.

The vacuum hose I was in reference to was the ones like on the Auto Trans Modulator Valve. Wouldn't be able to use just the regular rubber vacuum line on them. Also, could anyone tell me the size of the vacuum lines? The door lock lines are one size and there is a different size for the shut-off valves. I only see one size on the PP catalogue.

On my year and model the Plastic vacuum line that goes to the transmission modulator is about 1/8" out side diameter and uses sections of rubber hose on each end.
While the plastic tubing is a specific color it does not have to bet that color to work.
I also don't see any reason why rubber hose or silicon vacuum hose could not replace the entire length.

However the color coding of the door lock tubes is handy.

On mine between the main vacuum line and the vacuum valve there is a small plastic orrifice that reduces the vacuum to the Vacuum Valve on the Fuel Injectin Pump. On mine it is a reddish brown color.
Also on mine the exhaust manifold is on the opposite side so there is no temperature issues with using hose.

While the door lock tubes seem to be of a larger diameter there is no reason whey 1/8 inch out side diameter tubing would not work. It is just not that critical.

You could use plain rubber hose, it works and can be bought in many sizes at any auto parts. Try to avoid the pre packaged 6 ft sections as they tend to be $$. Good auto parts will sell as much as you need off the roll.

I buy lots of industrial parts from Automation Direct, the links below are for nylon tubing and fittings. The nylon does not make tight corners so using 90* fittings is a must.

what is a good tool to use to cut that plastic tubing with? The original on the car might be kind of touchy to cut without possible breakage. Those lines have been there a long, long time.

The lines that are in the Engine compartment may be brittle but you won't know till you cut it. I use sharp knife.
