Shifter bushings
When I first bought the 240d I replaced the 2 shifter rod bushings under the car because it wouldn’t always start without moving the shift lever. This helped but still every so often had to fiddle with the gear shift to start. Now it’s 6 years later and about 50% of the time the shifter has to be fiddled with for it to turn over. Checked the bushings I replaced & there in good shape. I figure the ones up top accessible in the console need replaced. Before I order them I hoped someone could tell me if this is the right pelican part #, 115-267-12-50-m200 or 115-267-12-50-MBZ.

Is the shifter sloppy? If not, it probably isn't the bushings, it's probably the NSS on its way out. This happened to me earlier this year in the SDL, got to the point it would only start if I was actually moving the shifter and holding the key at the same time. Little plastic lever in the NSS had worn down to the point it just didn't work anymore. It isn't always the bushings.

It seems a little sloppy to me but I don’t know how that would feel. Is there a way to check the NSS?

The bushings are only a few dollars. If that doesn’t do it then I’ll try the NSS which is over &”$50.
