w123 om617 turbo drain leaking
Hi guys,
My car has been sitting for awhile. KNowing that the turbo drain area was leaking I just let is sit. However upon further inspection it looks like there is a lot of oil on top of the oil pan. If my car has not been started, shouldn't all/most of the oil been drained back into the pan? It looks like it still is "leaking" even though the car hasn't been turned on at all. Or, is there constant oil in that pipe? Thanks |
Oil is in the oil pan. You likely have more leaks. Elring makes a reasonably complete set that has oil pan, turbo & turbo drain, intake/exhaust gasket etc for not much money. You can take the engine down close to a long block and seal everything at once.

If it has never been changed, the o-rings and grommet are due for replacement.

Thanks guys. I laid a piece of cardboard beneath it 4 months ago and it has been dripping. Guess I need to inspect further. Just to clarify, if it was sitting for this long, should all of the oil be in the pan. Is it possible for oil level to be as high as the rear seal? Perhaps it is the rear seal? Ughhh.

It should not still be leaking if sitting for 4 months. Check the dip stick as routine maintenance. I would just set about sealing all of the leaks. It isn't that difficult and takes care of the problem in 1 set of tasks.
