New project 300TD!
 

Picked up this 300TD yesterday just to flip, as it was too cheap to pass up. Its a 83' with only 143k on it and all the paint but the pass side fender and the primer on the other front fender is original. There are a few minor dents, but nothing that can't be fixed. ZERO rust and never driven in the winter here in NY. Car has been in TX its whole life until 2017. I think fresh paint and a good going thru will make it a nice car for someone. Have receipts for work done on it for over $7k in the pass few years. Don't care for the color, but will be repainted the same.

Once it's done it'll be great ! .

Good on you for saving it ~ I used to see better TD's in the Los Angeles junkyards .

Knock off the oxidation and give it a good wax and It'll look very good!

China Blue
 

China Blue is a very desirable color. If you can polish the factory paint and then just paint the fenders and hood, that would be better than a complete re-spray. People like factory paint, and having only some parts painted is much preferable. Also, painting the entire car correctly is awful expensive. I have not seen too many of these cars with a quality re-spray. Too often the paint is coming off next to the window rubber or other masked joints.

Color is fairly desirable. May even look better to you with some work. I suspect that few where probably sold in that color originally.

As stated already try not to do a total respray. People seriously interested in these preffer mostly original paint when possible. If you can find a way to verify the claimed milage is critical to getting a real dollar out of these models. Few can really manage that.

Mercedes of this vintage are more subject to odometer issues than any other car I can think of. Rear hydralic suspension working also is important.

Got a chance do to some cleaning on the car, or should I say the bottom of the car! It has new front shocks and new rear SLS shocks and accumulators, as well as a host of other new parts on it. The color is Labrador Blue code 312. and I don't think the paint can be saved. We have been restoring cars and trucks for over 40 years, so getting a quality paint job on it is not an issue. Car runs well and just needs a little TLC to be right again, then it will be up for sale.

From the photos it looked like China, but I am sure Labrador Blue is even more scarce.

You guys on the warm, or hot west coast crack me up! That is a inline block heater for the cold weather we have here in the great white north east! Yes these diesels are a bit hard to start when the temps get below 0º F. I have heard you guys get cold snaps out there when the temps will drop down into the 60º's!

And yes I will be removing it and putting it back to stock. Just one yahoo's idea of how to fix something without doing it right.

Cool! I have repainted a couple of the 123s from the side trim down. Its pretty easily done if you remove the trim and makes a lot of difference in covering the most common blemishes and because its down low an imperfect job is not as detectable.

It hadn't occured to me that it was a block heater, I've only seen the plugs and the upper hose heaters.

hose heater works best if put in the lower hose.
