I like the SDL, but frankly, it's more car than I need. Nobody ever sits in the back.
A W123 actually handles even better in congested LA traffic. The tightness in this super city caused by over-population, definitely favors the smallest turning radii, back up handling etc.

W126 S-Class are the better cruisers, no doubt.
Being able to stretch arms and legs during hour long freeway parking lot sessions, is vital.
Plus, they are smog excempt.

81 300SD Vacuum Control Valve replaced ... fixed!

Replaced the VCV. Car is running again, shifting great!
