sorry for my location I will fix it in my pannel. My radiator is ok, i'm planning a road trip next year or so. But i'm looking to get a few parts in my trucks for my road trip, in case I broke down, i'm looking for parts that is not unsual to break down on a trip. Like a radiator, water pump, thermostat, hoses, wheel bearing, cv joint, lights etc... I would like more information on the ingredient that you mention for cleaning citrci acid and the water. is it 50/50 ?

Post Citric Acid Cleaning

It's available online, bakers use it, I mix one pound to three gallons .

You have to pre wash the cooling system with sudsless detergent first (Shout).

All the solder bloom etc. will be gone once you do this, as I said it takes some time with the average cruddy / corroded cooling system and you have to leave the heater on full blast so the heater matrix will be cleaned as well .

I used less than a teacup of detergent, then drove it a few days before draining it .

It's very important to use sudsless detergent ! the first time I used some liquid detergent and was flushing foamy soap bubbles out of the water jacket for a week .

Then you mix the citric acid up outside of the car , fill the radiator and drive it with the heater on full - no need to run the fan, you're circulating the cleaning mix ~ some take less than a day, my 240D and one of my older Coupes took over a week (800+ miles) and more than one drain and refill of citric acid / distilled water mix .

The mix will turn black as it dissolves the crud in the water jacket, the part of the radiator you can see looking in the open filler will be shiny clean, no crusty stuff anywhere .

As Nate said, use DISTILLED water! You can also use R.O. water if you have it. A common mistake is to use tap water. I know this because I am guilty of just that. However, hanging around the radiator (and A/C) shop, I see the effects of using tap water in cooling systems.
