Terrific, Aaron! I already use numerous Wurth products but haven't had the need for the RTV 'till now. Sounds like a good one to have for the O/F job. Thanks for being so forthcoming in answering my questions. I appreciate the many contributions you've made here (and so do both of my 300CD-Ts)

front Crankshaft seal location?

Hi
I'm almost leak free! my current oil leak comes from the front of the enginge, overtop of the vac. pump. there is a tiny little "hole" or screw or something that looks oily and a larger bolt nearby that looks like it could be it, too.

A while back, Old Deis mentioned the possibility of the front crankshaft seal leaking. What/where is this?

Thanks!
Paul

Paul:

There are several bolt pins in that area that hold the timing chain rails in place, and if they were not sealed properly when installed, you get oil oozing out.

The crankshaft seal is in the front lower edge of the block and front upper edge of the oil pan, behind the balancer and crank pulley. If it is leaking, there will be oil thrown all over the front of the engine, heaviest around the alternator.
