Mild Whistling Sound W124

91 300D. Start the car, everything sounds perfectly normal at idle. But, as I begin to drive at a low speed there is a mild whistling sound, whether or not my foot is on the accelerator. After 10-15 minutes of driving, it completely goes away.

Any ideas?

That was my first thought. But can't figure out why it would go away.

I opened hood and moved throttle above idle, but can't hear it. It's only when I'm moving.

If you can duplicat the sounde when it is not moving it is going to be tough to find it.

However, check the conditions of your belts and their tension.

The Vacuum leak couls be inside.

Could it be that the heat of the engine compartment seals the vacuum leak after a while?

Disconnect and cap the vacuum line to the ACC and rear headrest switch at the firewall. Does that do anything to the whilstling sound? Can you try the same with the engine shutoff vacuum supply line?

Maybe blower motor/regulator? My hearing is not so good, but had that problem until that was addressed.
