Exhaust question - 240D vs 300D

Hey guys,

Swapping an OM617 turbo diesel into my '79 240D, and I don't want to spend money that I don't need to spend. Is the exhaust the same on the 240D vs the 300D? Clearly, the down pipe is different, but is the tubing size all the same? I would rather have a n exhaust shop weld up a new downpipe for my rather than change out the entire system, but I don't want to choke the turbodiesel.

Thanks
Max

None of the exhaust parts are the same. Everything for the N/A is smaller. Best to get a complete exhaust system from a turbo 300D.

Bummer! I guess I have to start scouring junkyards for exhaust parts soon. I may just have a shop weld up an entire new exhaust instead, it may be cheaper.

You probably won't find a complete system at a wrecking yard, they remove the mufflers and or cat (if equipped). I probably have several complete exhaust systems, PM for details.
