a b light is cool but you can get away with the locking tool which I have.

I'll order one of these sets (same part number for oil seal)

On the turbo MW pumps for the OM617 I've been told you can find the notch that the A-B light detects in the IP by using a DTI / clock gauge - I'm not sure if that's also the case for the OM606 IP however (could be)

Last time i looked at buying one (ages ago) it was something daft, 500GBP so i opted for the screw in plug which you use afterwards.

My guess is the tool has two 'flippers'leaving an open circuit, once the notch or wing is centered it makes both bulbs light up.

I think there's basket or something to hold the chain in place around vac pump cog, need to check that out also.

Pretty certain it is coming from flange seal but at the bolting point, at this points its very close to the block and may have evaded my earlier attempts to insert sheet cardboard.

This time I managed to squeeze a sheet right up against the flange wall flat with the block, if nothing else it will stop fuel/oil evaporating up - it should also be fairly evident as card will get covered.

Update

The leak recently took a turn for the worst, lots of drips on underside of pan which made me think the front crank case seal had gone.

If this were the case it might explain how fluid could work its way up over the pan gasket flange near the block adjacent to bottom of pump.

This makes sense apart from one small issue, oil all around pan area below crank but nothing around crank itself. The oil cooler pipe connection appeared wet also, side of pan dripping with oil too.

My guess here is the pipe is misting out oil under load, or when very hot - to test this theory wrapped and zip tied lengths of rag, so far so good although no long runs yet but at least the oil drips have stopped (for now).
