Already got a response from his partner.

I posted this same warning on all the link I provided. If there is a resolution I'll share and we can all move on.

From Jason just now.

"Hey I'm really sorry. I didn't rip you off intentionally, well really at all. I was getting ready to ship it and the throw out bearing was frozen on the shaft. My puller was broken and I kept forgetting to grab one at harbor freight. When the **** hit the fan and I had to move I put it in a tote and completely forgot about it.

I'm going to have it on it's way too you by tomorrow morning. I'm really sorry, I wish you gave me one more chance before you slammed me publicly but I understand. I'm not even going to delete that stuff until it's resolved and I hope you will respond and say I made it right and that it was an honest mistake at least."

Small world - I was raised at 408 W. 6th Street, Wilmington, Del. He’s one block from Market Street two streets over. From memory I cannot recall any residential units there. In a few weeks to a month I’m headed up that way. Corey- you want me to swing by?

- from me-

Of course I will. If truly an oversite then I get it. But we have talked several times about getting it shipped and I’ve been burned many times. I’ll post a full retraction when I get the parts and we will all be good. I’ll post that you contacted me and are working on getting the Transmission out.

From Jason.-
Thank you. I'm really sorry. It been a crazy few months, I've worked I don't even know how many hours a week between my other job and moving and trying to set up my new place and pay the rent which went up considerably. I was in the process of packing it up when I found a frozen throw out bearing and wanted to take car of it for you. My puller was already damaged and wouldn't remove it. I kept forgetting to grab a new one then the ace dropped and all attention got shifted to weeks of hell parking and moving all my stuff and 30 cars to my new place. Not making excuses just telling you what happened. It's on a shelf in a box waiting and I completely forgot. I'm really sorry again. I'm taking care of this immediately.

So, this may be resolved. Some good can happen. I'll be posting pictures etc of the build process in my wagon thread as I learn to rebuilt the manual and then get it swapped into the car.

I would not trust someone who "forgot" about my $1000 purchase. Even if he really did just forget.

Our guy was waiting for a year for it to arrive. There apparently were many reminder e mails going back and forth during this time. The seller claims the mix up was due to a shop move, this move occurred Aug / Sept 2018 according to his posts in that time frame.

Release bearing stuck on the snout? Only if it was soaking in water. If that is the case, the snout will be too rough to use and input shaft badly rusted.

I've seen this kind of thing go down before with other buyers / sellers and it seems to be related to a persons judgement being skewed by drugs / playing the pones.

Yes, it's been a year. But, I do understand he was going though some stuff and I got put aside. The car has been sitting the whole time but, wife is wanting me to start on it and restore it. I'm 100% good getting the parts and no hard feelings whatsoever. If you look back in my threads, I talked about buying it. I's the full setup out of a rusted out 83 wagon that had factory 4 speed, the trans the drive shaft, peddles master cylinder. Basically most of the harder parts to get to do a correct swap. I'm fully expecting the condition of all to be rough. the car was pretty rough. But I want to fully rebuilt the parts anyways before they go back in.

I have a puller if I need to get the bearing off. will deal with whatever I get when it comes. Fingers are crossed and I always hope for best, but it is what it is in the end. I do know I'll have to recreate the hard lines. but I have a new craftsman double flaring tool I have been itching to try.

There are lots of holes in his story.

Release bearings don't " stick " to a trans to the point they need a puller to get off unless it was sitting out in the weather at which point the trans would be unusable.

The trans snout is lightly greased and won't rust to the point of sticking when installed on an engine because everything is somewhat shielded from the elements. It doesn't matter how rusty the cars body is.

I've seen this buyer / seller dynamic before and it is just like a spousal abuser / abused spouse relationship. The seller keeps telling the buyer they are sorry and will get better and the buyer keeps hoping they will get better, follow through with the sale but is hesitant to push the issue for fear the seller will get angry or just drop out of sight.

Will the seller follow through? Hard to tell. I'd be asking for current trans pics that also have an item of your choosing in them. Something every shop will have, a ratchet, jack stand , hammer. (In the old days it was a current news paper ) If our guy is truly sorry, he will gladly comply. If he gets angry or " you don't trust me? " you can be assured he was never going to follow through.

I would double check that address- it’s been decades since I roamed the hood but I don’t recall any residential units down on the corner of 8th & King Streets. I tried Googling that address and nothing popped up.
