Glad you covered your bases. Hopefully you wrote his name on the title in ink as well. I've had lots of buyers ask if they can fill out their name later -- "that's all your info, I can fill out the rest later"...Nope. Now or I walk from the deal.

Like a lot of sellers on Facebook and Craigslist, he is going to need a lot more high quality photos and details on the car if he plans on getting anywhere close to that amount.

If he puts out high quality photos of the car he won't get anywhere close to that amount

LOL.

Along these same lines, not saying this is your situation, but I have seen cars advertised that appear to be in good shape and for a very good price, or even a steal of a deal. I try contacting the seller almost immediately as it was a car I was highly interested in buy to drive myself. Finally get a response from the seller that it is sold. Within a day or to you see the car back for sale for some stupid high amount. Some greedy SOB trying to flip it for a quick huge profit. That burns me up.

Way of the world. My brother in law seeks and gets real bargains regularly. Repairs the problems they have and resells them.

Actually has a lineup of people that want what he buys. As far as I know he just explains to the seller the truth. The vehicles has such and such a list of problems. So it is worth no more than this to me . He has in his current inventory a real decent loaded gmc or chev four wheel drive 1/2 ton truck . He would pass it on to me unrepaired at what it cost him. I source some parts for him and do other things. So he would not mind.

I just do not need a truck right now. Or expect to. The vast majority of sellers he buys from just do no work on their own vehicles and are unwilling to pay. The amounts required to the repair shops today. He picks up a lot of vehicles with automatic transmission issues for example.

He was asking me at the new years dinner why certain Mercedes SUV type vehicles are so cheap and nobody wants them. I suggested as well that he just stay clear of them. On the other hand at times when you have run into more problems than you want to deal with. I have noticed that you resell that vehicle fast. Sometimes at a loss as is.

He knows Japanese and domestic vehicles fairly well. I do not think he would want to go on the more modern Mercedes products learning curve. Plus there may be difficulties in finding buyers even when they are repaired. Some of the really modern vehicles have so many chronic issues they almost always will present. He usually makes this work for him.

What is bothersome to me and I have noticed he has also mentioned it. . He believes the quality in even brands that have characteristically produced good cars is falling down.. Perhaps especially in the last four years.

Wow, he's owned the car for over 20 years!

As much as not having the new owner fill out paperwork on a car sale is risky, a guy I know said he sold a Mercedes to someone who came by and paid cash for it and said he'd fill out the paperwork later. Later on the seller got a call from the police asking if he owned a certain Mercedes, and it turned out it had been involved in an armed robbery and was abandoned. The police let him have his car back and since the title hadn't been transferred, they let him keep the car too, so he sold it again and ended up with twice the money.

That's pretty awesome, but he got lucky that it shook out that way.

Many people here use the Phoenix area market to buy and sell as it is 10 times larger than the Tucson market. I have bought all my vehicles except 1 work van in Phoenix for the past 25 years.
