EGR

So, does an 81 240D have the EGR control module or was it just vacuum controlled?

Vacuum possibly with a thermovalve.

The most sophisticated electronics in an ‘81 240D are in the stereo and clock.

True dat. My 83 OM617 had vac controlled EGR until I removed it.

I recommend removal and block-off of your EGR unless needed for emission inspection. The primary function of the EGR on our old Diesels is to fill the intake manifold with sticky scum.

Yup already removed it, was just checking to see if the 81 had the module so I could use it to pull a tach signal.
