Ehhh, not quite. A failing flex disk will give you plenty of warning over hundreds or thousands of miles with clicking or popping noises. They don't just go from perfectly fine to catastrophic failure without warning. You have to deaf or daft to ignore it.
Also Lemforder flex disks are quite excellent. I have 40k miles on my 5spd swap with downsized lemforders.

An extreme case but it happens,

What happens when you ignore that "little" driveline vibration!

It is giubo (pronounced: jew-bo), and is commonly misspelt as guibo.

Everyone seems to pronounce it differently, I use the pronunciation Mercedes and all the Europeans I know use " Gwee-bo" .

I can't hardly spell my own name , I'll try to remember to spell it correctly next time .

I've seen the same P/N on 107's, 115 Sedans and others, I was lucky and found a pair of brandy new factory fresh M-B ones on a gasoline powered W115 once .

As for brand, try asking the Classic Center about the price, it may well match the Lemforder brand ones .

okay, so i can source the flex disc guibo thing.

next thing to worry about is the cv shafts.

i have the cv shafts that came with the diff, however they were not in a vehicle when i got it... So i do not know which chasis it came from.

they could be totally wrong for fitting in the w123. I need them to be from the r107 chasis as it's close enough to fit.

But according to this
https://mbturbo.com/gear-ratios/

R107

1st Generation mounting
1973-1980, 450 SL/SLC, M117, 2.65 / 3.06, 1.3 Liter

Width
1970s: 1,790 mm (70.5 in)

w116

1973–1980, 450SE, M117, 3.06 / 3.07, 1.3 Liter

Width 1,870 mm (73.6 in)

w124
1991-92 3.06

Width

68.5 in (1,740 mm)

not sure if it's all the same as there would be different tyre widths as well or something that may have to be included ?>

Post W123 Drive Axles

I keep hearing that the 107 and W123 drive half shafts are the same....

Someone here will know for sure .

vw:

1) The distance between hubs (where the splined half-shaft is inserted) is substantially the same for 107 and 123 chassis.
2) A 107 with a 6-cyl engine would have been equipped with a 185mm diff, which can be referred to as "narrow", and the half-shafts can be called "long". A 107 with a V8 engine would have a 210mm diff which is "wide", and the half-shafts would be called "short".
3) 123s were all equipped with "narrow" diffs, and "long" half-shafts.

The terms "narrow", "wide", "short", and "long" apply only to this comparison.

Hence: A 185mm (narrow) diff, and the accompanying long half-shafts will be the correct width for either a 107 or a 123,
and
a 210mm (wide) diff, and the accompanying short half-shafts will also be the correct width for either a 107 or a 123.

thank you, and now it's only to see if the diff + shafts came from a 107 instead of a w126 or 116...

a 33% chance....

hmm i was going to take out my diff this weekend and swap it over, but 185 to 210 means a 12mm or 1/2 inch difference on each drive shaft between the wheel and diff :/ hmm.

is it too much ?
