Any recommendations for rear exterior LED bulbs on W124?
Someone said they replaced their brake lights with LED bulbs which I didn't think was important since the original lights work fine. But he said LED's might reduce someone rear ending you because they see the lights quicker and brighter so it might be a good idea after all.
I'm not going to change the entire rear light assembly if I do it, just the bulbs. Any advice on which bulbs and which supplier? I'm just guessing there's 6 bulbs on each rear assembly = 12 bulbs; brake lights, side marker lights, nighttime operation lights, etc. I don't really want to spend $5 per bulb so maybe I'll just do the brake lights only unless I find them all at a better price. Any recommendations as to what bulb sizes and where to get them? Thanks. 1991 300d |

I don't remember exactly which bulbs are for the W124, but I paid roughly $10/bulb when I upgraded my W123, plus resistors for the turn signals. If you cheap out on LED bulbs, you will end up doing it again. China floods the market with cheap LEDs, so you do end up paying a premium for good quality ones.
I go with the ones available at Walmart, autozone, etc...they are called Zevo LEDs, made by Sylvania. They are bright and have given me zero issues, while the cheap LEDs start going out after a few weeks usually. I've had some that are bad right out of the box. Plus, if anything goes wrong with the Zevo bulbs I can just bring them back to the store, or contact Sylvania. Just my 2¢

I've never been able to buy the same LED bulb twice.
