w201 Climate Control - A/C always on?
Just learning the quirks of the climate control system on my 1986 190D. One thing I notice that even when it's cold, if I set my climate control on the cold end the A/C will come on without the snowflake button being on. I can feel the a/c compressor turn on in the engine even though it's only 45 degrees outside.
Is this normal for the a/c to always be working? Is there not a pure fresh air setting? Doesn't seem to matter what climate mode or what vents I'm using. When the wheel is set for cold, the A/C comes on. |

If you turn the dial all the way to the blue end, the AC will come on max. It also comes on when you engage defrost, which turns up AC, heat and fan full blast.

Should the compressor engage with ACC set to EC and temp to MIN?
