1984 300sd wont start help!!!!!

My turbodiesel wont start. This is what i know. Fuse good to glowplug relay showing battery voltage, power to glowplug relay showing battery voltage. Glowplug connector is not showing any voltage to any of the glowplugs. What can you clean the end of the glowplug wiring harness that attaches to the glowplugs? They have lots of oil and stuff on them.

Are you hearing the Glow Plug Relay cycle when you turn the key to the Glow position. You should at least see a dimming of the dome light.

Check the 80 amp glow plug strip fuse closely.
They can have hairline cracks.

Not if it is still v turning over the engine. You do need to let it cool down after continued start attempts. How many years has it been since the car last started/ran?

So, I'm confused. My 84SD has a simple spade connector held to the glow plug with a small nut. Cleaning would only require wiping with a rag perhaps after spraying with a solvent.

You need battery voltage to the GP for them to heat. If you have voltage thru the fuse and not to the GP, I'd suspect the relay itself.

According to the FSM, try cycling the Glow plugs several times, for about 30 seconds, without starting. Then try to start. This charges a large capacitor inside the Glow Plug Relay. This is common after the car sits for a few days or more.
I eventually had to replace them as the relay became very temperamental, especially in cold weather.
