Replacing CV Boots-help! :D

Ok, my W115 is all torn apart, so time to do cv joint axle boots. These seem to be similar whether it's a w123, w126, etc. I got the inner and outer boot kits. The inner is just the boot, while the outer comes with a new can. I see online how I can replace just the boot using one of those fancy pneumatic tools, but given that I'm replacing one side's can, I can take that apart, replace both boots, install new can. Right? Well, I've taken apart the can, but the inner part of the can won't go over the half of the joint that's stuck to the driveshaft. I'm assuming I need to pull that off the shaft first. How do I do this? I've tried and failed with a puller. Besides that, not sure what to try. I've looked all over for tips on how to do this project and there is nothing out there! Not that I've found anyway....Help!!

You will need to press the shaft out of the spider. Depending on the axle version, there may be a lock ring on the end of the shaft. The rubber stop on the end of the shaft needs to be removed as well.

Where did you find the crimper for the axle cans?
