I've been watching youtube vids about headlight restoration.
I bought a set of the euro lights from a w126 91 300 SE.
What is the best method to restore them? Should I clearcoat them after the restoration? Do the lenses come off without destroying the assembly? Are parts available for these lights? |
Are they not glass?
|
Griot’s sells windshield polish that might work on glass headlight lenses.
Maybe you’re restoring the reflectors? Sixto 98 W320a sedan and wagon 02 C320 wagon |
These appear to be frosted over. I though they were plastic. Hum, do they get dirty on the inside
|
You can still get new lenses for these headlights. If not from MB then NOS. Make sure they’re LHD lenses!
So yes, the lenses are designed to be replaced. I don’t remember if they have a formed seal or RTV. Sixto 98 E320s sedan and wagon 02 C320 wagon |
Post up pics of what you have.
Every euro headlight I've seen was glass. The stock is 126 doors have plastic over the fog lights... but should have glass headlights... |
You guys are correct.
The lens are glass and were just dirty. The plastic covers on the fog lights are fogged up.
Are there instructions on disassembly and restoration on the plastic? Advise? |
The fog lenses basically disintegrate... not much to clean...
I have poured superglue into the cracked lenses, and polished them to a pretty good look. |
