You've heard of "Ebony & Ivory", but how about "Ivory & Ivory"?

My most recent purchase is a 1982 240D in Ivory with a Palomino interior. My TD is also an '82, and is Ivory with Palomino. So they are sorta twins!

The 240 is a real cream puff, with 190,000 miles. It has the manual transmission, electric windows, and sliding roof. I was told it was originally owned by a "little old lady from Pasadena"(seriously!). I am the third owner. A friend of mine bought it for his wife from the lady in Pasadena, but she wanted something a little newer. He knew I was into these cars, and offered to sell it to me. He made me a deal I could not pass up. This will be my new "show car", as I am thinking about selling my wagon. I don't really need two wagons (other-2004 E320 wagon), nor do I have garage space for two cars. I also feel better about driving the 240 daily, more than I do the TD. The TD is worth quite a bit more than the 240. The 240 does not have the standard "Pink-amino" seats like many do, they are all nice like the were in '82. There are only a couple small cracks in the dash in the usual places. The engine bay is super clean, and the car does not leak anything. Needless to say, I am very happy with it.......Rich

That thing is a museum piece

I wouldn't daily drive that, it's a piece of history. Maybe drive it to the car clubs or vintage European car shows but that's about it.

I only used my wagon for car shows and maybe a Sunday drive now and then, so the 240 may only get the same treatment. However, the 240 has a salvage title. That is the biggest factor in my decision to maybe use it more often than I would have used the wagon. Right now, the 240 gets parked outside. If I sell the wagon, the 240 will reside in the garage when not driven. When I am using my 211 wagon, the 240 is parked under a cover on the driveway (other house).

Engine bay

Not the best photo, but the engine bay is super clean. No leaks whatsoever.
