$4300 and they will keep the car. too much trouble to get it repaired myself.

the adjuster says i can take the agm battery as long as i put in some kind of replacement. i will take the OVP too.

any other suggestions as to what to take ? maybe the toolkit if it even has one.

How much if you get the car? I bet someone on here would love to get that car for what the Insurance Co. will charge you to get it.

Those 190D turbos are rare, and the fastest diesel of that era.

I don't think the wrecked car is a 190D. Looks like the wrecked Benz is a W124 300D.

I didn't look too closely, I guess. I just saw the signature line. Either way, the W124 300D cars are nice too, and probably worth getting back for $300 and selling off to someone who will fix it or use the engine.

so i will go to the tow yard tomorrow and swap out the batteries. the bosch agm in there is only 2 months old and the one in the 190 is 8 years old.

i might swap out some wheels and tires too if i can dig them out of the garage

Be sure you bring proof of ownership and be aware the yard still might not let you take parts off in the yard. They don't want to get in the middle of a possible liability issue. " The insurance co owns the car and the previous owner took parts off / some random person is taking parts off a car "

Usually they will not let you do any work in the yard...

i pulled the new bosch agm battery and the new ovp from the engine bay and disabled the hood opening latch then closed the hood.

i also took the spare tire, the rear view mirror and fuel cap. i couldn't think of anything else to take!

it was a good car. i am glad it protected my kid in the wreck. he drives a minivan now.

That's why you always have the car towed home after an accident. Nevermind then storage fees.
