Yeah, love that ****. I guess my point is really it's just a car, if you want yours perfect more power to you but it's just a car. Do whatever the hell you want to with it. Don't criticize people for having fun with a worthless car like a 300sd that isn't in showroom condition. I'm not saying take a perfect car and do this but I just bought a good running decent condition driver for 400$. W126 are great driving worthless not really classic cars. Plastic bumpers.... Unless it is imaculate and has paperwork from the jump it's never going to be a valuable car. Sure, store it for another 20 years and maybe it will be. Good luck with that. And all you 560sel owners that say your car is worth $20,000, show me one stitch of proof that one has sold for even over like $12,000. Restore a fintail just have fun with a w126.

Post Art Cars

Wow ! .

My first thought was uncharitable, but I know a guy who actually builds these sort of Mad Max / After Epocalipse cars, they're pretty popular with younger folks and this one has tags and is road worthy .

I'd not have it for free but them, many wouldn't have my vehicles either so it's a wash, right ? .

Never forget : in matters of taste, everyone else is WRONG .

Arrow

The mad Max movie car was(two of them actually) a w123 limo headed for the scrapper. Saved by the movie car builders and used as cab on a am general military rig chassis. Awesome.

I did post this with a lighthearted intention and assumed it would be taken as such. Certainly didn't mean to offend. Let's try to not be so uptight. Lighten up and don't sweat the small stuff.

As mentioned by another member earlier, I dig it in a Mad Max kind of way.

W123/126's are about the only cars I can think of where a running/driving example can be bought for <$1000, throw a few bucks in to keep it roadworthy, drive it for a reasonable amount of time, then sell it for what you've put into it...sometimes more.

I like it. I really like the rear window treatment with the dual spoiler and the expanded metal. Wonder if the a/c works?

Plot twist:

The interior is 100% stock, gorgeous, and has an uncracked blue dash!

Clearly, time to get out the Sawzall and turn it into a topless convertible! Garage kept, of course and only driven on cloudless days.

No need for a Sawzall. Just drive about 25 mph and run it perpendicular into the obligatory semi trailer sinking in the backyard (being used as a storage "shed"). Instant convertible.

Ok maybe op was kinda joking-ish. . This guy's not. I'm far from up tight. I was ready to elcamino my 300sd but found a good rust free wagon to serve the same purpose. Its guys like this that are up tight and feel they're better than the guy with a fun beater because of his
" alomost showroom" w210. There's a real future classic. The same attitude I get from idiots saying I ruined a 450slc after dragging it out of some backyard grave for ten years turning it into a drift car and having more fun in one day than most classic mercedes ever have. I'm the one saying have fun not be up tight., But I will call you out when you say asinine stuff like "crush it it's not perfect like my car" . It's really the modern car owners (meaning after 85 or so) that act this way and they usually drive like they're better and than everyone and own the road too. It just irritates me. So many bozo's on these forums Makes me want to go hop in a showroom condition modern Benz and crank up the AC right before the demolition derby. Just be a soup can a little before the rest of the diamler chrysler and later junk. Nothing special about them now. Everyone has big power and technology. It's just another car.

I would L O V E to have a homemade 617 powered 126 with a truck bed in place of the back seats and trunk. Unfortunately my skill level (zero) with a project like that would produce a result looking worse than the car I started this thread with. Maybe even a burned up car and garage.

Looks like good clean fun to me. the older benzos aren't really worth enough any more to be worth fixing up cosmetically.

Tom - I'm probably less than 3 hours west of you. Perhaps we could organize a meet and greet at Covington Beef House or similar place if there's enough interest.

Yeah the vintage sedans are starting g to come around. Nice W111 and really nice w108. But you can get good ones under 5000 no problem. W126 are dime a dozen. I just paid 400 for a 300sd and my friend has a stable of w126 from 4 speed 280se to 3 5.0 se SEL sec all under 1500. And they'll never be high dollar.
