Yea if I had time I'd love to tear it down to see what is up. I suspect there is a ring issue.

Wow factory interval is 4 yr / 40 k miles.
I think that is too long and should be done every 2 yr / 20 k miles https://showbox.bio/ https://tutuapp.uno/ I would replace the breather puck, it probably got shredded from the back pressure in the filters. Don’t forget you need to do an adaptation when replacing the filters. |

I use the right esp engine oil as required. I did think there might be no problem if the engine was not using any oil between changes though.
I also suspect when normal wear and tear start occurring and there is some base oil consumption. Then the recommended oils may help. Or it is pretty much over for the pollution systems to handle the situation. . Volkswagon spec is 5w-30 esp oil or 5w-40 sp oil.. Their dealer oil is supplied by mobile now. Dealers are using Mobile I 0w-30 esp in these diesels. Under the Volkswagon label now. A little less than the grade recommended. They have discontinued using castrol oils. At least in Canada. My problem is I have no easy access to a reasonable cost 5w-40 esp oil. I still suspect with no proof that I would get longer engine life using 5w-40 esp oil in this engine. Walmart carries a diesel/esp rated oil. Don't remember the brand.
