'83 240d clutch slave cylinder issues

I want to bomb this car into Oblivion.

Per my other threads. Purchased this pretty clean 83 240 from Austin tx and drove it home 7.5 hrs. Oil cooler line got cut by the belt and blew on the way home.

Towed it back, replaced both lines and the cooler because I damaged it.

On the way home, I had a pretty minor fluid leak from the passenger side of the trans. Lost usage of the clutch. Kept filling the reservoir up when necessary to get home.

Have been driving it but yesterday it got to the point where fluid was pouring out. Got under it and saw a crack in the housing of the slave cylinder.

Figured yay! Easy fix. Parts house had a new slave cylinder.

Installed today. Went to pump fluid into the bleeder on the back. Pissing fluid out of the fitting on top of the slave.

What goes? Is the fitting bad? Is there supposed to be a seal between the fitting and the slave? How tight does the line need to be? I got it as tight as I could with a short 12mm wrench with a slot cut in it. Should I get a crows foot and try to crank on it more, or is something else causing it?

Any guidance is greatly appreciated

All clutch hydros work similarly. Remove the hose going to the slave and look at the end of the fitting. It likely has an end where there is a sealing surface. You will need to determine why the mechanical connection is not sealing. It probably doesn't require a washer because the hose end mates to the slave. The fix will be either a new hose, the correct slave cylinder OR both.

Try comparing the new slave to the old especially if the old slave didn't leak in the same place. You shouldn't have to tighten excessively. Stop and examine how the thing is supposed to work.

Sounds like you cross-threaded the fitting or the fitting is defective.

I'm going to pull it apart today if time permits.

The PO said the clutch was JUST replaced. I saw a crack in the slave cylinder housing, but first turn I made on the hydraulic line, and fluid was squirting out. Maybe it was damaged from the clutch job and PO just didn't want to reveal that. It appeared to be coming from the crack in the slave, but was also sort of wet around the fitting upon removing.

Thank you all. I've said it before but I've never come across a more helpful forum. This is my first time owning a vehicle with a manual transmission, much less working on one. So I'm new to all of this.

Just frustrating since I JUST purchased the car. I will continue onward. Looking at the bigger picture, I just have a fluid leak, which upon fixing, the car should be back to normal.

Update, got it fixed! The line was cracked on the end and i didn't notice until i pulled the slave back off.

Ordered a new MB line, new slave just to be safe, and the slave shim since it was missing.

Forced fluid up through the slave via connecting to the RF caliper. Worked flawlessly, car is shifting better than the day i got it now.

Thanks to all. First time ever messing with any type of brake/clutch system on any vehicle so glad it worked so well
