I need help identifying hose

1984 Mercedes 300D. Found this hose pinched and was leaking coolant temp statrted spiking at idle. I put advheisve black gorilla tape on it for now. I need help identifying the part so i can replace it. Is it the upper or lower radiator hose. It contects to the thermostat housing running all the way down to the radiator.

Without a picture, my best guess is the upper radiator hose or the bypass hose.
