Chrysler Master Tech Training Video - 1951

I'm amazed at how thorough and easy to understand the training video is, it's also pretty entertaining as well.

Do dealerships still do these sort of training videos?

Don't forget to grease the screw and threads on the spring compressor.

Yes, here is a more modern one from Chrysler
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXW0bx_Ooq4

And the industrial version ( yes, the guy in the industrial vid is the same as the guy in the latter half of the above vid )
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXJKdh1KZ0w

Another from Chrysler, slightly different version of the one at the top.

There's a video floating around of how differentials work. Again black and white from Chrysler.

I loved that. They even made a differential from tinker toys to show hkwbot all worked.

GM published a book during the same era called "Power Primer", which was a very well written introduction to internal combustion engines. Copies turn up on E-Bay all the time. It's worth a few bucks to have a copy on your shelf. It's also online:

And look at this, the companion book about transmissions is also online:

Wow, the photo in the thumbnail is very cool, I'd get a giant poster of it if I could.

I also ended up watching a video of the river rouge plant in Dearborn, maybe I have my nostalgia goggles on but, looks like good work.

Back on Chrysler, I feel like they had character to their training videos. I find other videos boring and stale.

Post Factory Work

Yes, nostalgia goggles ! .

Factory work like this was endless, mind dumbing and very often dangerous on multiple levels .

Lord knows I loved both my 1962 Full size Fords ! .

On our first day of automotive tech in high school, our instructor showed us the turboencapulator video. Back then it seemed convincing because how serious the tone was, and I knew nothing of cars. The gears heads where dying of laughter.
My instructor claimed years back on the first day. One new guy acted as he was familiar with it, boasting out loud and such, instructor and students at the end of the video tells him it's a spoof. He left day one and never came back

He uses the video for that very purpose, just to see who's bluffing on their knowledge of cars.

Factory work back then was hot, noisy, dangerous. The vids are overdubbed because of the noise.

Some Chrysler stuff

Building the 1955 Plymouth ( I still have the 56 Plymouth Mom bought new. )

Glad you like them, I used to help put them together. Stopped in 1983.

I have a copy of "Autopolis" the 1934 movie made in France when Citroen built his new assembly plant that was the largest in Europe.

The company made all vehicles in the same plant and benefited from the interchangeability of a large number of parts, like all the IP controls on all trucks, no matter what size. Ditto with car parts. On the Tractions, front and rear doors were interchangeable, they just went on opposite sides.

The movie was held by a private company and copyrighted, kept out of the public for 70 years, but is now in the public domain.

You see how pistons and other parts were made from basic materials in the 1930s, it's an amazing movie.
