Wastegate Actuator Swap - Another Satisfied Customer

With the ongoing vacuum annoyances I've had (traced to the rat's nest side no less), I decided it was worth the money and effort to swap out the wastegate actuator per GSXR's most excellent guide.

I did the swap from the top (as my driveway was soaking wet after the rain we got this past weekend). It's tedious, but do-able. Took me about 2.5 hours (and that includes a lunch break).

My results seemed typical of others who have done the swap. Shifting improved noticeably. Throttle is much more responsive. If I had to describe it I'd say the car just feels like it breathes more freely. Of course other vacuum issues have improved as well... interior climate controls work faster now and when I key off the ignition, the car shuts down immediately (instead of taking a half second).

At a later point I'm going to pull out the rat's nest and do a proper egr block (for testing purposes). Someone on here removed all of that crap and connected a 2.5 inch dia. section of silicone hose between the turbo and the intake pipe. I'd like to do the same... looks clean.

Anyhow, many thanks to GSXR and those that pioneered this mod!

+1 on the turbo discharge piping

I have the wastegate actuator on order, sure would like to delete the flap during the install.

Anyone have a materials list that works?

Congratulations on this accomplishment.

Respectfully, I would like to suggest the following for your consideration:
As you do a job such as the one described here, take a few pictures and include them with any related post(s) that you make. That way, others following behind you benefit from your efforts. This is a key feature of how this site and others have usefully evolved over the years.

I pulled the guts out for the flap and tapped the hole to use for the pressure line for the new waste gate. I don't remember what size but it was just a off the rack brass NPTXhose fitting.
