There are dozens great threads on this topic on the forum,here is a neat one showing (your type?read the oval tag on the lift pump) of lift pump FP/K22Mx:
W115 220D and 240D Lift Pump Valve/Rebuild Kit Note the repkit # A0015861207 = Bosch 2447010044 (two check valves + 2 o-rings for the threaded nipples) Also: '75 240D - OM616 - Lift Pump Part Numbers & Parts ..yours probably is the first version , FP/K22Mx type lift pump.Please verify before ordering parts. Take it out with a suitable instrument(a pick or a strong needle), oil the new one and install in the groove... Cheers Vox! Any recommendations on how to verify which pump I actually have on the car (guessing I won't find a part number on the pump)?
On a seperate note, I found my door vacuum actuators had failed (left passenger and both rear doors) . Anyone have a part number handy? Cheers!

The metal tag with the designation is on the lift pump. You may need a small mirror to read it.

I guess one can easily check them for proper operation. There might be a vacuum leak somewhere-let the experienced users chime in. |

Curious if there is a common practice? On a side note, I just drove the car home. IP flush with new Moly oil, new mounts and engine strut, valve adjustment and new brakes among other things have really improved smoothness and feel for the car.

Next wave of parts have been ordered:
1) Transmission mount - A1232402518 2) Differential mount - A1233511142 3) Front sway bar kit - A1153200047 4) Rear sub frame mounts - A1163500075 5) Speedometer Cable - A1145420207 6) Fuel Sending unit - A1105421204/64 7) Hazard light pull switch with relay assembly - A0015449532 All of the above were available from the main dealer - simply amazing! Also ordered a set of 175/ 80 R14 Continental EcoContact 6 tyres, which are considered best in class for the OE size. These will sit on the 14 inch "steelies", and should really improve the character of the ride and fuel economy. Finally, was able to source a pair of original W115 ribbed rubber rear floor mats new from Argentina. They'll look great over the new OE look carpets I've installed from Coverdale.

Yes to both items. The gasket cutout (depending on manuf.)may have extra material south of the stud holes side,just leave it as is.No RTV needed,hand tighten uniformly(push it it with your other hand or rotate the crank so the IP cam eccentric for the lift pump is at its lowest).
If I was to remove the lift pump I'd change the small o-ring for the plunger rod too (easy). part # Bosch 2 440 210 002 = A 010 997 86 48 |

Thanks. Ordered the gasket and the tiny plunger O-ring from Mercedes, so fit shouldn't be too much of a worry. For anyone looking for a tutorial on how to do this job, I found this post by Stretch

After what feels like an eon of searching for an OE mid-section exhaust (#1154900115 - NLA), I finally settled on an IMASAF aftermarket unit.
IMASAF exhausts are surprisingly well reputed on other forums, with many calling them better than OE because of the quality, thickness and coating of steel used. I plan to source the rear end exhaust from Mercedes as those are still available and are just an inexpensive!

After the original radiator developed a serious leak, I've gone ahead with the following dealer parts order to get the front end entire cooling system to like new condition, in addition to several other parts that needed replacing (listed with descriptions for fellow member convenience):
1) A1081800265 - Oil Cooler (eBay purchase - OE supplier AVA cooler) 2) A1087200016 - Drivers door check strap 3) A1154900715 - Rear end exhaust (will connect to the IMASAF middle exhaust) 4) A1234920714 - Chrome exhaust tailpipe tip/ cover (love the look of these!) 5) A1235000012 - Radiator mount kit 6) A1145000112 - Radiator side mount kit (NLA - supplied by Joseph Beerbower via eBay) 7) A6151870082 - Upper oil cooler hose (NLA - found on eBay.de) 8) A1155011782 - Upper Radiator Hose 9) A1155011882 - Lower Radiator Hose 10) A6152030282 - Coolant Bypass Hose (smallest hose, difficult to install) 11) A1158311094 - Water pump to heating system Hose 12) A1102001720/80 - Replacement Water Pump with both replacement gaskets 13) A1156840205 - Ribbed rubber Trunk liner (really great looking OE quality replacement from eBay seller W114selo) 14) A1154200072 - Rear coated brake discs (ATE) 15) 24-005265 - Bilstein Heavy Duty front shock absorbers with mounting hardware Annoyingly, I cannot locate a new lower oil cooler hose (#A6151800082 -also NLA - any leads are welcome). I'm also considering sending the injectors and lift pump to the diesel injector guru for servicing. Thoughts/ opinions on these jobs and anything I may have forgotten to focus on is also more than welcome! Once the above mechanical work is complete, most of the remaining work is suspension or cosmetically related, targeted for 2020.

Have you been to the dealership to see if there's an alternative number for the oil cooler hose?
Otherwise I think it was user mach4 who was advocating aircraft fittings and making up your own (though I get the feeling you want stuff to be 100% correct) ##### I will say that HD Bilstiens are probably not what you want these days. With all due respect to people on this forum who (used to?) rave about them they were probably of an age where they wanted a boy racer feel to the vehicle. I put them on my W123 after rebuilding the front and rear suspension and found the ride comfort to be rather jiggly. I suppose some might translate that to be "sporty". On (potholed) UK roads I'd be looking for comfort and would suggest something like SACHS comfort. The W114/5 chassis has a more refined front suspension + subframe system which I am told (when new) gives a much nicer ride than a W123 - I'd be keen to experience that first (!)

When I replaced them, I was surprised to find that the connect rubber top mounts had literally melted and turned yellow - I have a picture somewhere. That's when I realized that changing your shocks every 10-12+ years regardless of mileage is a really good idea. The W115 is a much more sporty chassis when compared to the W123, which I also own in fully restored condition. It’s almost as if the 65 horses in the /8 are more thoroughbred, despite being fewer in number. It's also lower and feels more planted. The only issue with my car is the pitch associated with hard breaking and the roll that tells me that the original shocks need replacing. That combined with the new OE subframe mounts and sway bar links I've procured from the dealer will transform the car I hope. Quick update - I was able to get the original Behr radiator recored by Aaron Radiator here in UK (60+ year history with radiators). They also steam cleaned and repainted my oil cooler for me, which was nice.
