W115 1975 300d transmission throttle kick down rod help

I’m hooking up my new engine in the w115. Almost ready to start !

I can’t get this rod that connects to transmission on the right side and the throttle link on right side of engine.

This year is weird and has no Bowden cable. Anyway I think they call it pressure control rod. I think it is just for the kick down. Anyone know ?

Anyway the place on transmission it hooks up Does not rotate much — like 1/8 inch. Doesn’t seem it would do much. Is that supposed to rotate ? I can’t get the rod on it because of that protruding thing that has the electrical connection on it. So I’m thinking the place should rotate so the shaft can connect to transmission.

I know that all sounds confusing. I’ll post a pic in a minute. Thanks

What engine was removed, and what engine is being installed? Is the original transmission being retained?

Do you mean that you cannot obtain the control pressure rod?

A control pressure rod was used up to 1981; thereafter a control pressure cable. Nothing "weird" about it. Kickdown is effected by the solenoid on the right front corner of the trans, and the switch under the throttle pedal.

The control pressure arm, to which the rod is attached, points up, away from the KD solenoid. It is clamped to the shaft that extends from the trans.

Pic of pressure rod

Thanks Frank. It is the original transmission. See pic. I have the rod. The problem is I can't get it on the transmission Maybe i have it oriented wrong. But it seems like the way in the pics is the only way it will fit. But the little triangle thing sticking out of the transmission seems to be blocking it going on.

And the piece that it fits on on the transmission that is moved by the rod does not rotate much. If it rotated more it would help get it on past that metal thing.

Does that look like the correct orientation to you? It makes the rod kind of run parralell to the exhaust header and go up and connect to the ball socket bolted to the side of the engine. Seems its the only way it can connect to that place.

Maybe it is just a tight fit and i have to keep trying. Anyway the engine started up great on first glow

Here is the last line, again, from my post above:

"The control pressure arm, to which the rod is attached, points up, away from the KD solenoid. It is clamped to the shaft that extends from the trans."

Question #1: Can you distinguish an arm from a rod?

Question #2: Can you distinguish up from down?
