Highly suggest you buy a tool for a job and go from there, you'll save time and money. Pretty much no one knows how to work on W115's anymore.

Did you know dealers consider the 211 to be dated and the W210 to be so ancient some don't service them anymore.

Don't forget to grease the screw and threads on the spring compressor.

If you can get the car to Chapel Hill, I heartily recommend these guys:

A Better Wrench

They aren't cheap, but IMO, their work is top notch. They repaired a rear half shaft on my former W123. While they had it I asked them to go over the car and tell me what needed to be fixed. When I picked it up they gave me a 35 point list that covered everything, including a note to replace the antenna mast... and the order of need. Seems like the rear half shaft repair and their inspection was around $200, iirc.

There used to be a place in Burlington that would work on the older Benz diesels, but the shop closed up about 6 months ago. I think the owner passed from this mortal coil. It's a shame... I liked the folks there... good people.

Thanks all for the replys. I try to do as much work as I can myself but when repairs requires me to go under the car I don't have a lift and I don't want to work under jacks and stands.
