Legends of the Autobahn

Not sure if anyone is aware but Legends of the Autobahn is just around the corner (Friday August 16th)

For those of you who don't know, Legends of the Autobahn is an all-German marque Concours d’Elegance held at The Club at Pasadera during Monterey, California’s Pebble Beach Concours week.

Personally speaking, I really really want to see some W123s come out no matter what shape they are in and as far as I know there will be at least three W123s there guaranteed. A friend of mine named Steele is showing his Euro 4 speed turbo'd white 300d with black cloth interior and also Garrett is bringing his 300td Euro finished in a metallic thistle green.

As for me, I'm reassembling my all original 300d Euro 4 speed that I'm sure some of you have seen:

Some of you may have seen my progress on revitalizing this car but I'll most likely have it 100% back together in time for this event.

I hope to meet some of you and if you don't get a chance to register your car, at least come hangout as spectating is 100% free.

Sign ups as well as all of the info regarding this car event you can find at: https://legendsoftheautobahn.org/

Beautiful car. I hope to attend the Legends show this year as I have done in the past. I know that Laura Simonds, past officer of MBCA, and her husband Richard, were very instrumental in starting this show as representatives of the Mercedes Benz Club of America.

i'm currently registered with my bmw m5 touring, but my son is bringing his orient red euro 300td, and i'm hoping my other son can bring my petrol green euro 300td. Would be great to see a bunch of 123's.

SL Diesel

I should have the SL Diesel done by then, and it would be cool to have it there. I would probably enter the modified class.

I don’t know if I’ll be done with my W123 before Legends, but I intend to bring my S124 if that is the case.

Hotel

Just so you know, getting a hotel (even now) is near impossible for this event. However, I have it on good authority that the nearest place to get a room is in Salinas. It is about 45 minutes from the event. Having the need to be there early in the morning means a hotel room is essential. A friend is organizing a caravan from So. Cal. on Thursday. I hope to be a part of it......Rich

hotel

Thanks for the heads up on the hotel, Rich. I have friends in Santa Cruz with whom I can stay.

Castroville is another option for hotels. There is also a very nice KOA in Moss Landing. Castroville is the artichoke capital of the world. Try the Trolley restaurant for great food or the Moss Landing Cafe.

My friend Blue has a friend in Monterey that he stays with every year, so hopefully I can stay there. If not, I will get a hotel room.
