617 turbo motor , leak hard to pinpoint
I’ve completed a lot of the regular oil leaking points with new gaskets or grommets. The Turbo gasket kit I’ve installed solved a lot of the oiled problems, new oil pan gasket helped a lot and I was oil dripping free for about 6 months .It looks like mid block near the turbo , any ideas ?

Oil filter housing gaskets- another common oil leak site. But that’s on the other side of the engine.
BTW, for what it’s worth, a reliable source has told me that Elring valve cover gaskets are OE, and are less likely to leak than Reinz gaskets. Our site sponsor carries the Elring gaskets.

The engine has been well cared for by me for the last 9 yrs , it must be approaching 450 k ,daily driven between three other w123s , always chasin oil leaks and like to be thorough but this seems to be a block leak , I cleaned that side when I had the turbo , will have to exit the turbo again to really get a look , it’s a super slow drip wherever it’s coming from , won’t be satisfied till I ring out , a little grimlin leak .

I had a similar issue with leaks on our 1980SD. Oil was seeping from the oil cap, valve cover, and intake tube area. The waste gate hose was disconnected and cracked. After repairing it, all my leaks went away.

After degreasing the Engine and related areas you should be able to visually locate the leak.
Some of the skinny tubes that go from the Air Filter Housing down to the breather drain nipple on the upper oil pan have a welded tab that a bolt goes through (below the turbo through a metal strap) to steady the tube. They can crack around the weld and leak or the ones that have a metal piece as a clamp can vibrate and wear a hole through the tube ant it leaks.

Leak-Free 617:
Pulling the passenger side down to the long block took care of most. Some have come back.
