The vibration damper that attaches to the belt tensioner on my UK spec 124 300 D is shot. The upper bush is worn right out and it rattles at idle. Common I believe. It works with a spring attached to the other side of the pivot. Looks as if the lower bolt attaching the damper will not come right out as it is blocked by the pulley on the end of the water pump. Question is: if I remove the top bolts attaching the spring and the damper will I be able to rotate the tensioner body enough so that the lower bolt securing the damper can be removed clear of the water pump pulley. Also is the spring under tension making it difficult to get the spring top bolt back in?Don't really want to remove radiator, drain fluid, strip belts off etc which is a lot of work if there is a short cut
