1984 300d overheating

My temperature gauge says I'm overheating. The radiator hoses have very little pressure in them. I changed the thermostat. The water is flowing. My gauge goes up and down so, I believe that's the thermostat opening and closing.
I was in the process of flushing the cooling system when I noticed water dripping behind the injector pump. Well it's coming from a freeze plug. So now I'm not sure if that happened because of the head gasket being bad or just the freeze plug is just bad. I ordered a test kit for the head gasket. Any feed back will help. Thanks

Bullet, What are you working on? The freeze plug could be the reason for no pressure if it's leaking bad enough.
Was the head gasket changed due to an overheat?
If it didn't overheat before the head gasket repair it may be air in the cooling system.

Good luck!!!

It is not uncommon for a citric acid flush to dissolve the crud that was blocking a hole in a Freeze/Core Plug. The same with the Heater Core.

The pressure testing kit ought to show you where the leak is if you have not already identified that.

People have also occasionally had a bad Temp Sensor. Also the end of the Temp Sensor can get coated with scum and not function properly.

Thanks for the help. The head gasket was not done. Sorry for The mis understanding. It's was a high temp. On the gauge that got me started. Then I found a freeze plug squirting put water. So now I have to remove the oil filter housing so I can remove the injector pump to get at the freeze plug . While the gauge said high temp, The radiator hoses had very little pressure. So the leaking plug make sence why no pressure in the hoses. Thanks again everyone for the help.

Well when I was a Junk Yard I came a cross an engine that had the fuel injection pump removed and the Oil filter Housing was still in place. Next to the Car I found the Vacuum Shutoff that attaches to the Fuel Injection Pump (and that turned out to be no good).

My assumption is that the vacuum shutoff was removed to get the pump out without removing the Oil Filter Housing.

There is a bracket on the bottom rear of the Fuel Injection Pump and you do need to remove one of the Oil Cooler Hoses to get at that.

I am hear at the Library and cannot look at the notes but in the past I tried removing and installing the fuel injection pump without removing the Oil Filter Housing. I can only remember that I got it out.

I remember I had trouble getting it back in place like that but don't recall the details. If I remember I will look in my notes to see if I actually had a tread on that as my memory is too poor to know for sure.

You don't have to remove the oil filter housing to remove the injection pump.
