Or, is it something you buy in separate containers and add to your regular fuel?

Shell in Canada under V power diesel. Esso under another name. Mobil again under yet another. About 7 cents more an American gallon. Not available all over the place. It has detergents and since the fuel millage is increased. I suspect it is closer to European diesel fuel. The oil companies are not doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. The poor quality diesel fuel sold in north America may have contributed to many issues with modern diesels. Something is going on.

I was going to be happy with that Passat if it saw 50 miles per gallon with the modification to make it legal. The ex service manager told me I should normally lose about a mile per gallon with the modification of this add blue car. Yet I might still benefit from the increased fuel millage it gives.

The ex service manager for Volkswagon also told me where to get it and I should use it in this Passat. It burns cleaner and keeps the engine cleaner inside. Perhaps even pollutes less. Plus increases the fuel millage. Again it is not in many service stations yet. I had never heard of it myself until he told me. Yet it was sold by a shell service station in town. The attendant there told me a lot of people are starting to use it.

The wives 2012 Passat we reciently aquired for her. May be getting 56.2868 miles per imperial gallon on the highway. Or about 43 miles per gallon on the America gallon with this fuel. The absolute MPG certainty is not there yet. The fuel millage reported by owners when this Passat model was new was in the 51-53 miles per imperial gallon range. So it might be true That this premium fuel is closer to the European fuel. Where their similar cars do get better fuel millage on their fuel. The rate of add blue dispensing has been increased on these buy backs with add blue.

I am going to try using it in the old 2006 Jetta I drive. If I find the Jetta is better. I think regular diesel fuel should be discontinued. I even wonder if part of the power in that Passat is from the premium fuel. It seems fast for what it is. Almost too fast.

The 2012 Passat is basically an a4 Audi. Built in America on the same line as the a4 Audis. If you look at a side view they are identical. I suspect Only the front grill is changed and a different rear panel for different taillights. It is heavier wider and longer than a Jetta with wide 215 50 17 tires. Being primary Audi when repair parts are needed most will be higher in cost.

We got this buy back cheap enough with less than fifty thousand miles on it.. With the automatic improved substantially in 2011. The risk is justified. The prices the Volkswagon dealers want for these are too high with the smaller risk still involved. If the automatic fails it is just really expensive to deal with it.

With this car came a Volkswagon Canada warranty. All the buy backs do.Basically anything that increases pollution in a failure mode is covered until June I 2022 or 193 thousand kilometers. This includes more parts and labor than one would expect. The warranty runs ten years from the first delivery of these cars. So a 2015 buy back or altered customer retained vehicle would run till 2025.

Very interesting. Thanks for posting. I was told, by my indy, to avoid VW's like the plague. Not sure why, exactly. Everyone has an opinion. They sure were great in the 60's and 70's. Had a bunch as a young man. A "Squareback" and a "Fastback", with Bosch electronic fuel injection, in the early 70's!! Squareback was a 4 speed manual. Great little car.....lotsa cargo space, passenger room, too. MPG's in the 30's, as well. Best of luck with yours!

Post Diesel Purging

Yes it works and works *very* well -if- your car has a dirty injection system ~ almost every one of my Diesels came to me poorly serviced and every one loaded the micronic filter I put in the return hose with crud .

To each their own : I use close to a gallon in a separate bottle under the hood and I drive the car making sure to use varying throttle inputs .

I also run the car to it's top speed a bit on the freeway .

No, it won't fix a broken or worn out engine nor one that's out of service and has tight valves etc. but it's a very good prophylactic measure .

I wonder how long these buy back VW's will last or if that matters ~ maybe you just buy one and run it hard for five years then dump it .

I would be interested in how well it breaks down surface film build up.

If someone has some spare perhaps imerse an injector part to see how well it dissolves debris, I know some will say it needs to be at X temp but it should still work even so.
