Post High Preformance Flex Hoses 4 Brakes

The Teflon ones can be good but only if they're DOT rated and marked ~ I know many who use them on track and street cars, the improved firmness of the brake pedal will sell you the first time you drive the car .

On the other hand, the "racing only" ones are well known to fail without warning so let the DOT rating be your guide if you go this route .

I'm still buying German made ones without difficulty and they seem fine .

Once you've had a brake hose pop while driving you'll stop looking to save $ there .

I ended up finding a set of Corteco brake hoses. The fit was perfect... seemed well-made and were DOT marked. At least with Corteco, the brand has some positive history for its products.

I also replaced the pads/rotors and completely flushed the brake fluid. I'm convinced the rotors were original... very badly grooved. The outer rim of all four had a "lip" of almost 1/16th of an inch. PO evidently slapped some new pads in there but did not have the rotors turned (i doubt they had enough meat on them for resurfacing). Rear rotors were rusted to the hubs. Used Kroil in all of the stud holes to get them free. The old fluid came out the color of over-brewed tea and smelled horrible... also had lots of dirt and other crap in it.

Took the car out for a spin to bed the brakes and WOW... I thought it stopped well before. Pedal effort is greatly reduced and the brakes are noticeably more firm.

Someone chucked an egg at my car while I was on that test drive... gotta love living in the rural South in October.

Better an egg than a rock. I got my ask whupped over throwing a rock at an 18 wheeler and had to wait three days for mama to tell my truck driving daddy what I'd done.
