Mobil Delvac 1300 SHD Synthetic Blend Diesel Oil, 15w-40: $1/quart after rebate!
Mobil Delvac 1300 Super Heavy Duty Synthetic Blend Diesel Engine Oil, 15w-40 is used in quite a few over the road rigs. It is Mercedes approved too (MB-Approval 228.31)!
Tractor Supply has it for $8.99 a gallon. Mobil also gives you $6 back per gallon via rebate. After tax, about $1 a quart!! Can't get much cheaper than that! :-) Here is a link to rebate: https://mobiloil.com/en/promotion/mobil-promotions/40-off-mobil-delvac I'd use this in an older diesel (pre-1998) and run it out to the recommended OCI under normal conditions.

Walmart price matches too...
If you can't get to a Tractor Supply, go to Walmart and ask for a price match. You can get the rebate on up to 10 gallons!

Anyone using this in their diesel MB?
Anyone have experience using this oil in their diesel Benz? Mobil says you can extend OCI to 1.5 times.

Interesting tip. There are Tractor Supply outlets in my area but the nearest are about 50 -60 miles away at least. Do you know how long the Tractor Supply price is active?
Never gone into WalMart to ask for a price match. I'd have to do it tongue in cheek given how much harder is to get to a TS compared to WalMart. I haven't heard of anyone using this in diesel Benzes but given Mobil 1's reputation one would think that Mobil synthetic would be quality. Doing a little more searching, it looks like this stuff is normally priced quite a bit less than Rotella 5 for example, like commonly under $15. One wonders how they they could produce a quality product for that low a price.

Is high price necessary for quality? This is used in quite a few tractor fleets.
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) chooses Mobil Delvac 15W-40 as the factory-fill in nearly all Freightliner- and Western Star-branded Class 8 trucks. For DTNA's fuel-efficient Freightliner Cascadia Evolution models, the company also selects Mobil Delvac as the factory-fill oil. Seems like it would be a good oil for MB diesel cars not requiring synthetic or emissions related oils.
