Not Mercedes, but somewhat of a milestone
I should hit 500,000 miles by the end of the year. 2004 Cummins.Has served everything from grocery getter to dozers and track-hoes. One alternator, one set of injectors, and a belt tensioner. Not overly serviced,Rotella/Delo every 5-7k miles with a splash of zinc every change. No blow by at all and still getting 17 mpg in a 3500 quad cab long bed 4wd.Gotta love a diesel.

Impressive, more durable than a 606?

I don't think anything is more durable than a 606. I adjust valves and change all the fluids every hundred thousand. I have even flushed the power steering system regularly. But not what I would call over maintenanced. It calls for a 10000 mile oil change interval. I was never able to run it that long without feeling guilty.

What does the zinc do?
I had my 99 e300 to 350k before I sold it. Probably could of made it to 500k no problem if I was able to maintain it like a Mercedes. Engine is pretty solid but the rest of the car doesn’t age as well as the engine.

USA oil had the zinc phased out.Excellent lubricant/ additive. I buy it in concentrated form. It is sold as a break-in lubricant for Cam and lifters.
