Transmission Fluid Measuring Tool Tip Stuck in Tube

Well this was a new one in my experience....was measuring the ATF level on the 98 and the plastic tip of the 722.6 measuring tool came off and is stuck in the tube! About 3" down. I don't imagine it would be a good idea to push it through and have it live in the pan until the next filter change. So, what, just remove the tube and get the piece out?

I'm not so certain you couldn't just shove it on thru and get it out during next tramssion service. It is not going to go thru filter.

Tough choice. I don't think the plastic tip is going to get passed the Filter but if it floats there might be something it could get between.

I can't remember what it takes to pull the dipstick tube on mine. Look that up and you can decide if you want to pull the tube and poke out the obstruction. I think you will loose some fluid if you pull the tube out.

Someone on another forum believes:

"You will need to drop valve body to get that piece out. It will not go past funnel in conductor plate."

That doesn't make sense to me....doesn't that tube end in the pan??

I think it ends in the pan but not positive. Either you remove the tube which has one bolt and is a press fit on the trans end or drop the pan.

It does both passes through the funnel and touches the pan bottom. I coud visualize it getting caught up in the funnel. Top sider is an easy try.
