Does Anyone Have A W126 350SD/L Or Other OM603 Car W/ ASD (Anti Slip Differential)?

I'm working on a 1991 W126 350SDL with ASD (Anti Slip Differential). The original engine was replaced (I think this is the third engine) and now it has an OM603 from a 1987 W124 300D. When the replacement engine was installed, whatever bracketry that was on the original engine was lost, and now the hose that goes back to the differential hangs loose and slaps against the oil pan, which is wearing them down.

I haven't been able to find any pictures of how I'm supposed to secure this hose. Apparently ASD was a rare option. I'm hoping someone on the forum who has an OM603 car with ASD will take a picture of how the hose is secured on their car. Thanks.

I might be able to help - I have an E300TD turbodiesel OM603, S124 wagon with ASD - manufactured in late 1994. I imported it 2nd hand from Germany. I'm vacationing in Europe now but will post pics, when it's on my hoist, of how the hydraulic line is routed when I return home in about 10 days. Peter

Just thinking that the hydraulic line is probably shared with the self leveling suspension so that mine could be the same as any 1987 turbodiesel station wagon.

The catch with the 124 vs 126 is the pump setup. The 124's used the cam-driven pump in the head, the 126's used the tandem power steering pump.

Thinking out loud here, but is it possible that the straps shown in the photo should be secured to the oil pan bolts? I've not seen an ASD/SLS car in person, so only a thought.

Yes possibly. I'd say any support you can get on it would be good even if it is just six zip ties.

tandem pump

My 87 S124 300TD has a tandem pump. I believe all W124s with SLS used this setup.

W123s with SLS (wagons, ambulances, limos, the occasional rare optioned sedan/coupe) used a separate pump in the head.

Diseasel300 is correct: from the EPC, the hose is anchored to the oil pan.

Item 181 (N 916016 020201) CLAMP HIGH PRESSURE EXPANSION HOSE TO OIL PAN
Item 182 (A 127 155 01 50) SPACER TUBE HIGH PRESSURE EXPANSION HOSE TO OIL PAN
Item 183 (A 124 327 00 74) PIN HIGH PRESSURE EXPANSION HOSE TO OIL PAN

Thank you! I had been looking for them before in EPC, but didn't find them. I believed there was some sort of spacer arrangement that attached to the oil pan, but didn't know exactly how it was supposed to be. So now I have the part numbers, and the prices seem reasonable. I imagine there are two of each part required and that the original hex key screws from the oil pan can be threaded into the pins.

EPC lists quantities of 2 for the clamp, 2 for the pin, and only 1 for the spacer.

Might be a misprint on the quantity for the spacer.
I'd recommend getting 2 of the spacer...just in case.

That is odd. The only reason I can think of where that would be accurate is if the oil pan is thicker at one screw hole than the other and requires a different length screw--or maybe one has to be longer than the other because of the angle of the hose. Either way, I'll probably order two of the spacer in case that's a misprint.

On my OM603 turbo 124 wagon with ASD (and SLS) I looked at the lines going down from the tandem pump and hydraulic oil reservoir (on the inner fender), and it has steel lines going from the driver's to passenger's side. These are mounted to the subframe behind the aluminum oil pan - no attachment to the oil pan or engine - then the steel lines turn 90° and continue rearward to the electric ASD valve under the rear passenger floor. So, on on my car there is no rubber hose under the engine - except for the usual transmission cooler hoses of course.

Okay, thanks for looking. It sounds that they had a different arrangement. Fortunately I was able to get the part numbers for the hardware that is missing.
