Not heat shields but an inverting canned air has loosened many stuck fasteners for me. Heat the area with a propane torch and flash freeze it.

Thanks. Fortunately it is not my problem.

The person in the thread apparently has the older plates that preceded what we called heat shields in his Engine. I speculated that freezing might work but wondered if someone had tried it or not.

May be carbon trapped. A solvent (carb cleaner or chlorinated brake clean) would probably work wonders.
