Freeze Plugs for head on om606 Turbo

I've got a 1998 E300 Turbo Diesel with the om606 in it. I am looking for a freeze plug for the cylinder head.

I've looked and haven't found anything. Everything I've found that's application specific looks to be the 1.3" (33mm) or 1" (25.4mm) plugs. I measured with a caliper and it appears that the ones I'm looking for are 0.9" (22mm) but I can't find any that size for the om606. I have found some generic ones but I'm a bit hesitant to use those.

Did I measure this poorly and I actually want the 25mm ones? Or am I missing something. If anyone has a part number I'd be eternally grateful.

I can only find the 25mm (or 25.4mm) plugs as well. Maybe you can purchase one and try it.

You might look at the NAPA (National Auto Parts) website just to see what is available.

However I think it would be better if you got the Mercedes part number and used that to shop with.

I called the dealership this morning. They are 22mm and the part number is 000000006170. I think they cost $1.50 each.

Hopefully that'll help somebody out looking for them in the future.

I honestly have to say that it amazes me that I can still get parts for a 20 year old car no worries from the dealer. And that I still get top notch service from my dealership's parts department for $1.50 parts. Not to be a fanboy, but this is one of the big reasons I love my Benzes.

I know there is a point where things change but Mercedes seems to reuse the same parts in their later models when they can do that.

It's not just the small stuff take multi link rear suspension links

SAME PART NUMBERS fit w201, w124, R129, w210, r170, w202, w208, chrysler crossfire

same major suspension parts used from 1984 to 2009 !
