I am new to this forum and new to MB, acquired a 2007 R320 CDI 4matic NON-BlueTec from factory.
Any one know what is the mechanical difference between the EU engine and the US engine? What increases the hp and torque in the EU engine? The copy below is from Wikipedia; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_OM642_engine I sniped{removed] the data on the "Mercedes/Dodge Sprinter"

I would think that the Sprinter Engine would have differences compared to a Car Engine because the Sprinter is more likely to carry a larger load then a Car.
Comparison the 440 dodge engine that is in my Motor Home has different Pistons and Camshaft then on a Doge Car Engine of the same year. And in fact the Block is supposed to be heavier having thicker metal around the Cylinders. Carburation is also different.

My question is specifically about the difference between the om642 engines that where sold / used in the EU and in the US. The om642 engine used in the sprinter van are even less hp Joseph |
